NEW VP OF MARKETING JOINS CALIFORNIA TREE FRUIT

REEDLEY, Calif. – August 5, 2008: The California Tree Fruit Agreement (CTFA), the marketing orders that represent California`s more than 1,100 fresh peach, plum and nectarine growers, is pleased to announce the hire of Jeff Smutny as the new vice president of marketing.
Smutny will join the CTFA team on August 19, and as the new vice president of marketing, he will lead the marketing team in the strategic development and execution of marketing programs designed to expand the opportunities for our growers’ success.
“Jeff’s wealth of knowledge in marketing and advertising in diverse industries will be an asset to our programs and long-term strategic direction,” said Sheri Mierau, CTFA president. “We are looking forward to the vision and leadership Jeff will bring to our industry.”
A graduate of Fresno State University, Smutny has over 22 years of experience in marketing, advertising and communications. He has applied his management skills within the automotive, political, and recreation industries and has advised some of the nation’s largest associations. Smutny most recently held the position of Vice President of Marketing at Digital Communications Group in Charlottesville, VA. He also held the office of Advertising Director at Geweke Corporation in Lodi, CA where he was instrumental in constructing an in-house marketing and advertising agency. He enjoys golf, snow skiing and backpacking, but his greatest joy is being with his wife Debi and kids Anna and Christopher at home in Fresno, CA.
Originally established in 1933 and headquartered in Reedley, California, the California Tree Fruit Agreement is funded by and administers marketing order programs on behalf of California`s more than 1,100 fresh peach, plum and nectarine growers.
