Consumers Can Join Summer Sanders and Take the 90-Day Challenge to
Beautify Themselves from the Inside Out
(June 1, 2006 - Reedley, CA) Last year's inaugural 90-Day Challenge attracted more than 2,000 participants and the 2006 edition promises to be even more exciting. This year, consumers will have the opportunity to win free iTunes downloads, as they point and click their way to a healthier summer with the 90-Day Challenge, developed by the California Tree Fruit Agreement.
Consumers know that when they feel good, they look good, and a healthy lifestyle, including a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, can improve health and enhance well-being. Fresh summer fruits such as California peaches, plums and nectarines are proven to be sources of antioxidants and other phytonutrients, which promote health and help protect against chronic disease.
Beginning June 1, consumers can sign up for the 90-Day Challenge at www.eatcaliforniafruit.com. The Challenge will allow consumers to track their daily servings of fresh fruit, including California peaches, plums and nectarines, along with new features for 2006 including:
• Monday e-mails featuring a health, beauty or nutrition tip-Monday is an excellent time to set personal goals for the week ahead.
• Thursday e-mails providing a healthy recipe featuring fresh California peaches, plums and nectarines.
• Recipes and tips from two-time gold medalist Summer Sanders.
• "The Pit Stop" - A weekly opportunity to earn free iTunes downloads, and more!
"Now is the perfect time to make healthy lifestyle changes," said Summer Sanders. "The 90-Day Challenge is a great opportunity to stay motivated this summer and also try great recipes
featuring fresh California peaches, plums and nectarines."
Researchers at the University of California, Davis have found that California peaches, plums and nectarines are good sources of two groups of phytonutrients, the carotenoids and the polyphenols, both
powerful antioxidants that may hold the secret to long life and vitality. Research shows that antioxidants can protect skin from damaging UV rays, and antioxidants are more effective when more than one is present at the same time, as in California peaches, plums and nectarines, so eat up!
