CTFA Holds First Ever Tree Fruit "Town Hall" Meeting

Tree fruit growers who attend the California Tree Fruit Agreement's upcoming Annual Grower Meeting and Dinner will learn about a new direction and strategic plan for CTFA and they will be able to participate in a discussion about the industry's future with a panel of industry leaders.

This year's CTFA Annual Grower Meeting and Dinner, to be held Tuesday, December 6 at the Visalia Convention Center, will feature a panel presentation by members of CTFA's Strategic Planning Subcommittee with a "town hall" type format, which encourages questions and comments from the audience. In addition, CTFA President Blair Richardson will provide an overview of the 2005 peach, plum and nectarine season.

"This is CTFA's Fourth Annual Meeting and Grower Dinner and each year we have had an excellent turnout," said CTFA President Blair Richardson. "We do our best to make the evening fun as well as informative and to draw as many members of our industry as we can to this event. It is very important that the industry comes together at the end of each season to celebrate our successes and address the challenges ahead."

To be discussed at this year's Annual meeting are CTFA's continuing efforts to restructure its programs and activities, a long-range project started in 2002 when Blair Richardson became president of the organization. Following Richardson's annual address to the industry, a panel of CTFA's Strategic Planning Subcommittee will present new goals and objectives developed as part of recent Strategic Planning meetings. The panel will discuss the new plan and will answer questions or hear comments from the audience.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a reception, followed by presentations at 6:00, then dinner and dessert at 7:00 p.m. Immediately after dinner, a prize drawing will take place.

Tickets for the annual event are required, but complimentary. All interested industry members and their guests are encouraged to attend. Please contact CTFA offices in Reedley for tickets by calling (559) 638-8260.
