Fall is all about food, family and football! While it may be
the fourth quarter for fresh California peaches, plums and
nectarines, as the season’s end is just around the corner, there’s
still plenty of time left in the game and fruit on the trees. This fall,
kick-off Sunday’s with a fresh Peach
and Almond Crisp or Plum
Sweet-Savory Ribs…with fresh PPN, game day doesn’t get any tastier.
Even
if football is not part of your Sunday equation, you may
start to find yourself spending a little more time inside,
especially as the weather starts to cool and the leaves begin
to change. You may even find yourself baking a little more.
To get the taste of summer all winter long, check out our
quick tips on freezing peaches, plums and nectarines. They’ll
be sliced, sweetened and ready for your oven, making pies
and cobblers quick and easy. |

Summer
Fruit Freeze
To
freeze fresh California peaches, plums, and nectarines,
wash the fruit in cool running water. Then cut into desired
size pieces, place in a bowl, sprinkle with a small amount
of lemon juice to prevent browning, and stir. Then toss
the fruit with a small amount of sugar. Allow the fruit
to sit until it releases syrup, about 15 minutes. Place
in freezer container, label and freeze.
